THE DIVISION

In the previous rotulus, we delved into the Nation Israel—running through the promise of God to Abraham, the establishment of the Nation Israel and the Israel-Arab connections. The theme, “God’s endtime dealings with Israel” is to walk Israel through history and convey by the scriptures expectations for Israel in this end of time.

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

—Joel 2:25

The people of Israel eventually got into the promise land yet Satan’s charade of attack was not yet over. This is because Satan knows the placement of Israel and the glory Israel has with God.

In time, we have seen 7 Gentile kingdoms try to destroy Israel—Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Grecian, Pagan Rome and Papal Rome. Joel spoke of the restoration of the Nation Israel in Joel 2:25Joel 2:25And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you., citing 4 empires from Babylon to Roman. Yes, there is a promised restoration to Israel.

40. Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel.
41. And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all David’s men with him, over Jordan?
42. And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?
43. And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.

In the times of David and Saul, there was a seeming division of the kingdom, however, the division came to light in the days of Rehoboam, the son of Solomon.

16. So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
17. But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
18. Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
19. So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.
20. And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
21. And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

12. Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.
13. Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.
31.And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the Lord , the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:
32. (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)

Here, we see the division of the Nation of Israel into 2—10 Northern kingdom and 2 Southern kingdoms (Judah and Benjamin). As we proceed in this study, we would see why Israel must be restored into being a Nation (even the binding of the two sticks Ezekiel 35 and Ezekiel 37)

Again, our emphasis in this study is not the dates, rather see the nation of Israel in history and God’s endtime dealings with her which will set her on course for her glorification in the millennial reign of Christ.

God gave several warnings to the children of Israel concerning the land and how they would be exiled from the land if they acted in disobedience. These warnings include engaging in idolatry, mixed marriages as well as failing to observe the sabbath of the Land (Lev 25, Lev 26, Deut 28, Numbers 33:52-56Numbers 33:52-5652. Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:
53. And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.
54. And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer, ye shall give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit.
55. But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.
56. Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.)

Yes, Israel became disobedient and rebellious to God and God had to activate His word spoken in Lev 26:33-34Lev 26:33-3433. And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.
34. Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. cf (2 Chr 36:212 Chr 36:2121. To fulfil the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years., Deut 28:64-65Deut 28:64-6564. And the Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
65. And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the Lord shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:).

Though God would cast them off yet there is a restoration for Israel for the gifts and callings of God is without repentance (Isaiah 62:4Isaiah 62:44. Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi–bah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married., Jeremiah 3:14-18Jeremiah 3:14-1814. Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord ; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: And
15. I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
16. And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the Lord , they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the Lord : neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.
17. At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord ; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the Lord , to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.
18. In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.)
