There’s a growing fallacy amongst enthusiastic New-Age Christians to relegate the place of a victorious life. This they do by twisting scriptures to project a Christ who introduced a New Testament that requires those who would accept Him to simply, verbally profess belief in this Christ and in His death and that is sufficient to get them an automatic ticket! Is that what the New Testament is about?
First of all, let me state this clearly, “The coming of Christ did not in any way abolish the law, as He said, but rather TO ACCOMPLISH THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW“:
Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the Law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.
—Matthew 5:17 NLT
What is the purpose of the Law?
God gave the Law because He wanted to have a kingdom amongst men. Immediately the children of Israel left Egypt, God gave them the very objective of why He had fought for them with such might and power:
...although the whole earth is mine, you [a] will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”
—Exodus 19:6 NLT
Following that, He gave them the Laws of this kingdom He was separating them to become. And for hundreds of years they tried to live by those Laws, but not once was God ever pleased with them, except with only a few men here and there. It very soon became obvious that man can not live by those Laws.
God then promised a new covenant with man in pursuit of His objective of having a kingdom.
“And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh; that they may walk in My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances, and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations”
—Ezekiel 36:25-27 NLT
God realized that for man to be ENABLED to fulfil His Laws, and form this kingdom, He needed to PUTa new Spirit in man, even His Spirit, whose objective is to TEACH man TO OBEY HIS LAWS. John 14:26
The New Law
Now when the testator of this new covenant came along, He opened up His ministry with what I’ll call the ‘’LAWS’’ of this new covenant, which you will find in the sermons He preached on the Mount as recorded in Matthew chapters 5, 6 and 7.
Interestingly before He started dishing those Laws, He let us know that “I am about to tell you things that are even seemingly more difficult than what was in the Law (the Law Moses gave them after leaving Egypt which they haven’t been able to live by)”, so He says: “For I say unto you, that except “YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” exceeds those of the “followers of the Law of Moses”, ye shall in no wise enter in.. as recorded in Matthew 5: 20.
So then He started thus: where the Law says “thou shall not kill”, in this NEW covenant, however, if you are so much as angry with your brother without a cause, you are in danger of the same judgement a killer will be meted. Even, “whenever you bring an offering before the Lord and you have such differences with your brother, leave your gifts, go settle with your brother first before you come back to offer your gifts”.
“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.
—Matthew 5:23-24 NLT
William Marrion Branham says he MAGNIFIED the Law! Where the Law says “thou shall not commit adultery”, in this NEW COVENANT, “If you Look on a woman and Lust, you’ve already committed adultery in your heart“. On and On He went, pulling the Law out and contrasting it with the New requirement for the New covenant which seemed even more unachievable for the fleshy man.
But, He now has a way to make this achievable; His intent is to put in man the SPIRIT, even His Spirit, and this will enable man live by this Laws that exceeds the Laws of Moses, He shall be living IN man. By this He will ACCOMPLISH (Fulfil) the purpose of the Law and God can then have a Kingdom where people in this kingdom will have the ABILITY to live by His Laws that was impossible for those under the Laws of Moses.
Listen brethren, if anyone says to you that all you need is to believe on Christ and that’s it! That is not a very complete or wholesome statement.
To make this brief, let’s zoom in on Paul, a key minister of the Grace of God, whose words has been construed to indicate there’s no “Law of Christ” to obey or live by in the New testament, that, Christ has done it all. Let me show you the “ALL” that Christ did as stated by Paul in Romans 8:3
“For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, SO THAT THE REQUIREMENT OF THE LAW MIGHT BE FULFILLED IN US, WHO DO NOT WALK ACCORDING TO THE FLESH BUT ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT”
—Romans 8:3
Now it is only those who now walk according to the Spirit, in whom the Spirit dwells and has been enabled by this Spirit to live the laws of God, to fulfil God’s initial objective, that are NO LONGER under the Law.
“But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law”.
—Galatians 5:18
9. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
—Romans 8:9-11
10. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
…but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. These individuals are not under the Law because the requirement of the law has been fulfilled in them. There is no Law against them, instead someday when their obedience is complete, THEY WILL BE THE JUDGE USING THE LAW OF GOD THAT THEY THEMSELVES HAVE BECOME!
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
—2 Corinthians 3:3
If the fruit of the Spirit is not continuously manifesting itself in anyone, don’t be deceived SUCH STILL NEED THE LAW AND SUCH IS NOT GOING TO Judge anybody but rather SUCH WILL BE JUDGED.
But for those upon whom Christ is working, in whom His Spirit lives, who have been enabled to Live the life of the fruits of the Spirit (the Laws of Christ of the New covenant), these folks, Christ says have gone from death into life AND SHALL NOT COME INTO JUDGEMENT. Because, “AGAINST SUCH, THERE IS NO LAW!” Rather, they will someday be Judges! The initial “purpose of the Law” has been achieved in them by the Spirit of God!
Check yourself friends, do you still need the Law or there is no law against you?. If it is the latter, then in you God’s objective of giving the law in the first place has been fulfilled! You are in His kingdom, you will be the Judge someday! But if you are still a walking box of the works of the flesh, and have not been enabled to live the Life of the “Laws of Christ” of the new covenant, you should run to Him today. He that comes and seeks Him sincerely, He will in no wise cast away.
If you are asking “How then”? On the day of Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2:38, Peter response to people who asked the same question you are asking right now was, “Repent and be baptized (baptizo: immersed in water), every one of you, in the Name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Amen! In need of some more clarifications on steps you should take? Amen. This new-age group is coming under the disguise of grace. As if the meaning of grace to continue in sin.
